Spoke to Barry at the end of last week. Apparently the "Drifter" guitar will not appear until first quarter next year at the earliest. It's been the subject of some revisions at the prototype stage - including the once over by Hank - and is now on "the back burner" according to Barry... :(

But the good news for Burns fans is that the 12 string with trem sported by Hank on the tour will become available as a production guitar sooner than the "Drifter"... start saving now!!

Why is it called 'The Drifter'?

Surely it is going to be confused with the original (pre Marquee)

Hi Terry,
Good question, I myself can't answer it. It wont be confused by the look as the two guitars are chalk and cheese. The Drifter and Drifter De Luxe of 1998, as we know, were based on the 1964 Marvin with modern day Kinman pickups etc. Could be that Hank wrote and recorded Driftin on his Antoria LG50 I
honestly dont know, maybe Mr Gibson will give us a clue.
Regards Geoff.

Hi all.
I can only asume that the Drifter has been taken off the stove and not now still on the back burner. I do hope Mr G still has plans to put LG50 Drifter on the market. Any news?
Regards Geoff.

I suppose it would be called Drifter because that was style of guitar Hank was using when the Shads group name was The Drifters-before the Shads and before the Strat?
