Another fan of Jet's

Postby Alan Prudhoe » 10 Jun 2010, 19:06

Came across this recently on the biog page of Ray Stiles - long time bass player with the Hollies

Narrowly missed meeting another of my idols just a short while ago at the B.B.C. '50 years of number 1 hit records' party. Jet Harris of The Shadows was there but I didn't realise it and he was gone before I could speak to him. I was really disappointed.

Maybe next time Ray.

Whilst we're into name-dropping, my band, The Gass Company, supported (a then unknown) Mud in High Wycombe in 1967!

That would have been Cascade Music, near Tooting Bec Station, a favourite of a lot of South London groups (Mud were from Hackbridge). The manager at the time was Tony Powell. Tony is a pro musician and does a weekly gig in Walton-on-Thames (using his stage name of Tony Vee) which is attended by a group from the Surrey Shadows Club. Tony has returned the compliment on several occasions, including the Surrey Club's last meeting when he sang 'Move It'.

That depends on colour of the snow and the size of the grin on Bakey's face at the time.
