Hi Phil
Nice to hear from you and thanks for your constructive comments.
As you may be aware Hank used 13 -59's for Apache and Gary used 12 -52, so any small differences that sting gauge may cuase is probably due to thatrather than the pickups.
The pickups we use are fine for all the tunes you hear on the juke box whether they be with UB hank BT's we used or Shads originals. The core sound is there and you have it too.
In fact I didnt notice a significant difference between your earlier pickup sound and the slider pick up sound. They both sound great.
I told Rod I wanted a set for Gary to try on his guitar, not for me or Paul. Gary uses the Hank Marvin Signature original pups and me and Paul use CS54s and 57/62's.
I wouldn't change mine for quids but I would have liked for Gary to have tried the Slider pups.
I have supplied a BT sample above of the Apache original BT used to show no traces of Hank that may have leaked over so there is no need to do it on a UB Hank BT.
Why use UB Hank, when you have the original backing Without Hank
The tone you hear is pure TVS3...nothing else!!
I think if you used your current set up with a bit of mike placement experimentation, you should get a simular result.
The TVS3 works like a Meazzi in the way it responds when its overdriven and you need to do a few trial and error tests to see how yours sounds in comparison.
If you want to post Apache using an original BT, you may want to post that so we can compare notes.
The BT's we make are free but only to TVS3 clients.
