THEME FOR SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT

Postby Stratpicker » 19 Sep 2010, 21:41

Never quite sure if this is “FOR” or “FROM”.
SEEING AS HOW i'M GOING TO BE A GRANDAD FOR THE FIRST TIME, I THOUGH THIS QUITE APPROPRIATE ! !
This version of Jeff Lynne's tune is based on Jet's LIVE Palladium performance. Duane Eddy originally recorded it in the 1980's but at a more leisurely pace. Jets live show goes at 140bpm and this one is at 130.
The original BT is by Tony Kiek and I have messed around with his excellent work somewhat – so don't blame him. I have speeded it up, added a key change etc.
The superb additional rhythm guitar AND the second Lead Overdrive guitar (copying Eddie Allen) are by my good friend Charles Campbell (Thanks CC ! ! ) – so its not his fault either!!! Other bits and bobs in there are Band In A Box and SpecMonkey VST – Salvo, thanks for telling me how to get those low Bass notes using it.
Brason Strat (middle pup) – Zoom 2000EFTP (Patch 20) – Korg Ampworks (AC15)– to PC (Cakewalk GT Pro2). Thats it!
Its great fun to play – Enjoy – or not!!

Love it. A great tune - never heard it before - but great bends on this...and wonderful tone.

Next time you have a collaborative project - let me know.....would be happy to join in!!

Keep very well,

Best,

Tony.

Brilliant Ian!!! I'm not going to take as much credit as you say, a load of the overdrive is of course your own including all the overdriven harmonies! You did a fantastic job with this one and clearly loads of work went into it since I received the 'raw' BT from you.
Excellent, and I'm sure Jet and Duane would give their stamp of approval!
Cheers CC

I have Grandchildren.

Here's a couple of pointers to ensure they don't become a bloody nuisance.

When my daughter told me she was expecting the first, I told her not to expect me
to babysit or visit or any of that softness.
I told her to bring the child to see me when it was old enough for a sensible conversation.
She, ( the eldest grandchild ), is sixteen soon, I suppose that'll mean she'll have to come and visit.
Doubtless she'll tell me about the exams she's recently passed and remind me of her name whilst she's here.
There's three others. Another girl and two lads if memory serves. I think one of them has a bike.
I know one of them has some crayons, I sent them last Christmas.
My Daughter sends me a photograph from time to time to save me walking
past them in the street.
Yes indeed, I spent a lot of time bringing up my own kids. Jo....something or other.
I forget the lad's name, I'm pretty sure there was a "G" in it. We were very close.

As for the tune Ian. Splendid. :D :D :D

Cheers, Alan.

My thanks to Tony (Tolo), Ecca, Bakey and Roger B (the 3 Hankies naughty boys) and Roland for taking the time to listen and comment.
And to my friend CC for being so modest about his contribution. He has his own website now - PoshPaws :D http://www.ccshadowrider.com
cheers

Hi Ian,
I enjoyed that one and your sound was very good on the Brason Strat. Good choice.
Best Tony
