No-one has suggested that the guitars you buy should be matched to your ability to play them! It's not about guitar players at all but about collectors who have no interest in playing. Not 'unable to play', but 'not wanting to play'.

noel i think you are spot on in what you are saying. the plus side is i learnt a new word did you ;)  peter. ps to anyone reading this. please notice all the smiling faces in my posts none of this is supposed to be taken that seriouly. :!: is it :!: :o    peter

A misogynist is someone who hates all women but I'm sure you didn't intend to put Justin in that category.

For what it's worth, I respect Justin's right to express his opinion but I also agree with your own view that everyone has the right to collect whatever they fancy, be it guitars, paintings, vintage cars etc irrespective of the fact that they can't play, paint or whatever. I have some very nice guitars but I can't play like Hank (or Justin!) but in my book that doesn't mean I should be allowed to own only a cheap Strat copy!

Cheers.

Tony

hi tony thanks for that, did you have to look it up or did you already now :) . be honest. and i also agree with what you are saying. peter

Well, that is good. I do have some nice guitars and amps but don't really have the talent. But I do try to play as best as I can. Andres

Hi Peter

Yes, I knew what a misogynist was (I'll have you know that I'm proud of my GCE pass in English Language :D but, to be on the safe side, I checked the dictionary.

And, Noel, I didn't grasp the wrong end of the stick - the point I made was a logical extension of, or variation on, Justin's argument but was made tongue in cheek. As Peter says, none of this should be taken too seriously!

Cheers.

I am a guitar collector and I assume it.

What's wrong with collecting guitars ?
I see some Members bashing this Australian guy who owns about 260 guitars.
I presently own about 100 and a friend of mine a little over 300.
Each of them has a story and most of them are of the high end, being unique or very rare.
He plays guitar, I play guitar, but usually with the same few.
Some guitars can be considered as pieces of art and handled as such.
You don't need to paint to collect paintings, so it is for guitars.
Without collectors how many 50's and 60's guitars might have survived ?
We don't take the bread out of the mouth of guitar players.
We don't hunt in the same lands.
Both can live happily together.
But still, yes you need to afford it as for any such collecting

A fine and enviable collection of guitars. You must have a large house!

Kind regards,

Terry

PS Alain, you have an excellent command of English.

Thanks Terry

English was my professional language and I had the privilege to work in English speaking countries.
Well, the basement is large, but for insurance reasons, alas, I can't stock all of them at home whatever sophisticated security system I have.

Best

Alain, I have only two questions:

Can I come and stay with you for a week and can we spend a couple of days at your friend's?!
