Roger, as well as being a fine bassist and guitarist, is a thoroughly decent bloke. He has attended Shadowmania in the past and regularly writes about and reviews Shads-related instruments - including the Total Guitar interview mentioned elsewhere - as well as writing Shads-type pastiches for demo tracks.

How strange. I wonder why he didn't tell me so. If he has attended Shadowmania out of choice then he and I had a common interest but he didn't make it known. He was most adamant in his denunciation - if that's the right word - of British Rock 'n' Roll.

Nowt as queer as folk, eh?

Thank you Mike, at least you are gentleman enough to reply to my question. I think I am infringing into a male anorack world of technical spec's
guitars and amplifiers, bit out of my depth but I do love The Shadows music and Cliff is still Fantastic.
Thanks again for your reply isnt it great to know that we have people like Marty Wilde and Eden Kane - Jet Harris and Gerry Marsden who are prepared
to take to the stage even at their age and who can still perform well, not at all "relying on what they were like" they still sound good.
Wish I had been around in the 60s I would have loved to have experiensed that age.
Thanks Trayc

Hi Trayc
A warm welcome to the forum.
Don't be put off by talk of valves, string guages, plectrum thickness, etc . I'm a guitar player but not really into the techie stuff although I'm grateful for the advice of those here who are. One thing we all have in common is a love of Shadows and similar type music and it's nice to see discussions about the music and the artists as well as the gear they use so i look forward to reading your future postings.
Incidentally, I too like Eden Kane's voice - I prefer it to his brother's - plus I can remember him (and his contemporaries)from the first time round :!:

Thanks Guys, I hope I will be able to contribute to the site, but I know nothing about the technical stuff, the title of this thread Jet at Born to Rock n Roll
isnt he just great, and like I said earlier not relying on his past expertise but still a great player.
some of the bass parts in The Shadows early stuff that Jet played were just fantastic. For instance Jerry Lordon wrote the tune, Hank played the melody, Bruce
had to follow the chords that were written(and played them fantastic) but I bet there was nothing written down for Jet its my guess he had to work out a bass for each tune ? - I wonder of thats right, If he is tuned in he might just tell us if that was right or wrong.
Thanks again for the welcome

Just got back from a sold-out Playhouse Theatre in Weston Super Mare. What a terrific show! All the artists put on a great performance. Jet even smiled a couple of times! :)

Apparently, Roxanne Wilde is appearing on X-Factor this weekend.

You're absolutely right, Trayc. Jet is a great and innovative bass player and I've always maintained that his contribution, together with Tony's drumming, was a major part of 'That Sound'. Those lovely strolling bass lines have, in my opinion, never been matched. Good examples of these can be found on the 'Me And My Shadows' (Cliff) album.

Nice to see Eden Kane still active and on the circuit. We went to the same school in Croydon (one of my few claims to fame!) although he was a couple of years ahead of us and we would regularly mix with a very young Peter (Sarsted) in the care of older sister at the local rec.
