Any views on The Shads doing another tour...Will they ? Should they ? Have they done enough for the fans ?.......................

i think it would be quite likely for another 1 off royal variety performace with sir Cliff

I don't want to be rude to anybody who loves the Shads as much as I do. But can't we just leave them alone now?

They've done more for us than we could ever have expected and if I were their age (won't be not long) I'd welcome the chance to sit back and do what I wanted to do as long as my health lasted out.

I'm more than grateful to all Shadows past and present.

If we stopped nagging them it would give them some peace. If they then decided to do something together or separately, they already know we'd be thrilled so it doesn't need us labouring the point all the time.

Just my thoughts. I know not everyone will agree :)

Hi Folks, Im not trying to start a pointless campaign so I think its best that I change the topic..and perhaps answer my own question..We all know they ve done enough for the fans and I dont think anyone expects more of them. They ve given us 50+ years and umpteen memories and its best to leave it at that. What I should have posted was something on the lines of "Are any of The Shads still working on anything to do with music" I can see how a thread like this could go pearshaped ....Gary

I don't think there's any need to apologise, Gary. I'm sure that all of the Shadows are delighted that so many people still take an interest in their music after all this time. I don't see that asking about what might happen in the future is 'nagging'

I know that Bruce is very proud of the fact that they are the only band with a community such as this with so many clubs up and down the country dedicated to playing and keeping alive their music.

I really can't see the point of another tour, it would only be a case of going over old ground. A new CD of new material would be great and would be a lot easier for the band to manage. Personally I would be far happier to have an officialy sanctioned release of some of the obscure material that surfaces on you-tube. I know that this view always annoys some of the forum members because of the supposed poor quality of the material, but be truthful and tell me what is so bad about material such as this little gem from you-tube? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mWZHJ8fJ38

I think that the majority of members would love to see official releases of some of the rarer stuff which appears on Youtube. Bruce had already tried to do something about an official release of some of the clips he shows on Shads On The Box at Shadowmania, but the cost was prohibitive.

As time passes, some of the shows which we know still exist (or at least did a few years ago), are disappearing from the 'archive lists' and researchers are not going to try to track down material that there is little interest in. There are still some great videos/dvd's that still exist with collectors and some of them are uploading to Youtube because they know that there is very little chance of them ever being released, what a pity.

ps The clip of Cool Water is from the 1968 show 'After Ten Fella's' and the film is in private hands.
