Ahhhh! Halcyon days of yore!
Hawker hurricanes (I didn't know there were more than 1?) to see 4 back in the air is a real sight.
Spitfires! Gawd bless 'em ("Let the Hurricanes take the bombers, the Spitfires will take the fighters on!") Great words, great deeds, great guys, great aircraft...Thank you Mr Mitchell for your divine design! Your design and the Hurricanes saved dear old blighty!
The Supermarine Seafire. The mighty Lancaster...didn't see a DeHavilland Mosquito though? What an aircraft that was. The germans "hated" them and called them devils. Being so fast that they couldn't catch them, not could their aircraft match them for punch as well as power.
As for the other aircraft, the mighty Mustang P51 (designed, and, eventually re-engined by mating it with the mighty Merlin, what an aircraft that turned out to be (The Tuskagee airmen will thank the Brits for that one I am sure.)
The Thunderbolt. The Bell air Cobra. The Curtiss Warhawk. The Curtiss Tomahawk. The Lockheed Lightening and so on and so forth.
I don't live too far away and can get to Duxford, unfortunately i missed the meet. perhaps next year?
