Before and after - not the name of a song

Postby Rosemary » 17 Aug 2011, 12:20

The other day when I uploaded a YouTube video I noticed my first attempt at 'Wonderful Land' was still there which I posted here almost 1 year before so thought it would be interesting to post it again with the new one for comparison - like one of those 'before and after' photos.
I still have a long, long way to go and still consider myself very much a beginner but think (hope!) it sounds better this year.

Wonderful Land - August 2010

Roland Microcube and probably using Boss digital delay and basic webcam

Wonderful Land - August 2011

Roland Cube 40XL, Zoom G2.1Nu with Charlie Hall's EFTP patch B0, Zoom Q3HD camera

The guitar is the same - an American Standard Strat

Best wishes

Hi Rosemary
A world of difference!
Its a combination of new amp, new echo, new camera but most of all - Practice and determination.
Looking forward to August 2012 !!!
BTW - I always play WL in the position on your first video and mine sounds OK too and I think it has the bonus of making that E minor easier to play and also better sounding.
(probably get a load on Nay Sayers now telling me how wrong I am!!)
Well Done Girl!!
I'm impressed!!
cheers

Thanks Ian
I don't think I'd remember how to play WL the first way now. :)

Hi Rosemary, A tremendous improvement, one small point try not to rest palm on the trem which 'flattens' some notes

Hi Rosemary. When W/Land came out in 1962 I was leaving school to that tune and it always holds dear memories for me. Who would have thought that almost 50 years later an Aussie Sheila would be banging out that same tune to the level of playing you're demonstrating. It would have been unheard off all those years ago.

Takes some nerve and skill Rosemary and I bet when the vid was rolling the heart was going ten to the dozen :D

Same with me--always ;)

Hi Bri
Thanks very much for listening :) I'm still very much the beginner and bedroom only player but am slowly making progress and having a lot of fun trying :)
Best wishes
