Stingray

Here's a quickie video took by BobT on his phone at the last Hankies meeting.
It's Stingray played by me using a Roland Gr55 guitar synth.
The BT is the Shads minus Hank. The other available BTs were either rubbish with machine gun midi drums or just bland and lifeless.

P.S. The syncs out, it's something to do with Youtube, I've put it up twice and deleted it again, it's in sync on my computer.
P.P.S The bandage on my hand is because I had a carpal tunnel op. and still had 5 stitches in.

You can play better with one hand in bandages than I can with two that aren't! .
Where were all the usual amps etc? Its often like a Music Shop at Hankies. Was it about Midnight when you did it?
Loved the Bass sound.

That Roland GR-55 sounds like a great piece of kit Ecca.

Does it allow you to do slides as well as bends ?

Ecca I've never tried a guitar synthesizer but do remember that early models suffered from latency problems etc.

I hear that those problems have largely been overcome, but my question is can you pick a note, and then slide up or down to another fret and get the same type of effect as you do when playing with a normal pick into a guitar amp. Similarly does it handle hammer-ons and pull-offs.

Roger, what you hear there with Stingray is a modelled guitar.
Here's a picture of the stage set-up I had some 13-14 years back.

On the left is the blue Roland GR09 guitar synthesiser pedal and on the right is the Roland VG8-EX virtual guitar pedal.(i.e. modelled guitar)
The synth plays samples of assorted instruments but you have to be careful how you play it, false notes happen but the latency is much, much better than before.
The modelled guitar is realtime- no delay, no latency whatsoever and behaves exactly the same as your real guitar.
The GR55 I now have combines the two, synth + modelled guitar and cost me about one third of the equipment in the picture.
