Waiting for Rosie...

Postby David Martin » 13 Nov 2009, 08:53

Charles' post of Now That You're Gone has prompted me to dig out this recording of Waiting for Rosie originally recorded by The Shadows on the Jigsaw album.

Whereas Hank overdubbed it, here - and when I played it with Legend at ShadowMania - it's played live with double stops... no overdubs or drop ins. (Backing track is from Legend - In Your Own Lunchtime - backing tracks from In The Beginning)

It's a good test to get your fingers round!

Hi Dave, That was cool, Not easy at all. I just found that although the BT seemed at a good mix with your lead line that there were a few orchesteral instruments that were a bit intrusive that spoiled your lead in places. Still it was really great.

I'll see if I can find the original studio track before the "embellishments" were added...

Thanks Charles... good to see you here!

Thanks Dave, No bother at all, I had another listen and to the Legend CD you gave me, I think the only thing was the flute? which was a bit overpowering. Non the less, Just brilliant, It is a real classic from John Rostill and you and your trusty Burns done it justice!

Top stuff David. I liked the whole mix, didn't mind the flute at all, quite a nicely articulated one too, seems to be almost a counter melody to the theme. Enjoyed it very much.

Excellent stuff David - a very characteristic Burns sound and some clever guitar work.
