Alan Exley may be able to help with the back plate- you want a tortoiseshell one, and I bought one of them off him a month or two back. RE: other parts- keep an eye on ebay!

If you need to know what any of the parts looked like, here's a contemporary catalogue illustration.

According to "Pearls and Crazy Diamonds" book yours is a GB66 De Luxe about 1965. To quote 2 An extremely rare Burns guitar, still more jazz orientated than the GB66. It is very similar to the GB66 in terms of design, but has a thicker body, Bar-o-Matik pickups and a Charlie Christian type of circuitry with tone, volume,a 3-way selector and a density control gave it a good jazz sound. The neck pick-up had two coils which were mixable by a density control. Standard finish in golden sunburst with rosewood fingerboard but other finish's,like red sunburst, were available. Some guitars had a bound fingerboard. The guitar was also made under the Baldwin banner. It was produced for just a couple of months in 1965.Retail price £143."

The year is 1965 (an accidental typo I'm sure).

Interestingly Mark's guitar differs from the one pictured in the book, as the one in P&CD has a one piece black plate between and surrounding the Bar magnet PU's.

Mark - Interesting guitar, I hope you will be able to find the missing parts (will be difficult/impossible), alternatively have repros custom made.
Try contacting Mr. Alan Exley at Project Guitar Parts.

I assume you've seen this... I don't know if they were the same on the 'Deluxe' as the regular model, but isn't this a GB66 scratchplate?

Pretty sure Alan E. does have a spare backplate now I think of it. I bought one of the two he had and I THINK the other went unsold. As for knobs, Burns still make them if he can't help.
