JET AT BEMBRIDGE - How did he manage it??!!

Postby audreyk » Sun Nov 22, 2009 6:05 pm

Hi Everyone,

Great news!! I'm so pleased to be able to report that last night we had the privilege of seeing Jet back on stage for the first time since July!

As you know, Jet had to cancel his autumn gigs because he is undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Recently Jet has been very unwell as a result of the combination of the treatment and an infection. However, last night we went along to the Bembridge Coast Hotel where the Rapiers were performing with Kytson Wolfe and the audience were thrilled when Colin announced that Jet hadn't wanted to let them down so, despite being unwell, he would be playing two numbers.

Jet got up on stage to cheers from the audience and he played 'Theme For Something Really Important' followed by 'Diamonds'. It was a very emotional moment for everyone. I didn't dare look at Janet because we both had tears in our eyes to see Jet back where he belongs. Even though Jet is feeling very weak and still has more chemotherapy to undergo, he played brilliantly and everyone in the audience leapt to their feet to give Jet a much deserved standing ovation.

When Jet came back to sit down at our table he, too, was almost in tears. A very special night! What a trooper!!

Best wishes
Audrey

Hi Audrey,
This brings the old saying "the show must go on" to a new level, good for Jet,- as you say, a real trooper. This shows the measure of the man.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yes, Nathan of The Rapiers just mentioned this, so I could report on my RAG! blog:

That's fantastic news, and the crowd's reception must have given him a tremendous boost.
Onwards and upwards, Jet :)
