Hi Phil,

The Sliders, matched with the TVS, are superb. I think I'm keeping the Australian economy going on my own. I would like to hear them through that Meazzi though.

Hi Phil,

I haven't heard an echo like that since the early Shads recordings. You can hear that slightly sweet 'slurring' unique echo repeat that only this type of machine can do, which is definitely the early Shads sound - very exciting! It is a sound that seems to incorporate wow-and-flutter, oscillation and reverbe, all shaped by the unique Meazzi circuitry that adds its own colour to the notes - it really does sing. I can see the potential even after this first recording.

Your Strat is going to sound amazing and we will be able to hear those early Shads numbers live again with the most original kit available today. We always thought there was a possibility of one being hidden in a barn, loft or shed, but never thought they would be discovered before being dumped in a skip! There has to be others out there somewhere!!! This one couldn't have gone to a better home.

I'm interested to know how many heads are configured and are they at varying levels Phil , It sounds similar to the Wonserful Land echo, am I right ?

Fabulous early sounds here despite not using a Strat. The echo is unique in it's sound and another one gets saved from the scrap heap and reborn to play again just like they did back then. Oh how I would love a go !

John, nice to hear from you and i thank you for your kind words, i do feel very humbled to have this machine, never thought after many years of searching it would ever happen i guess, and i did / still do think why me ? as it was a dream for me as it was for many others and i will never get complacent with the fact that i am very very lucky to own it, in life strange things do happen and it came to me at a time when i wasnt even thinking about music / playing guitar due to my health and i think it proved the mental lift i needed to get motivated and get out and play again, of course with much support from my partner Pauline and dear sons James and michael
I shortly hope to get out on the road again with it in our new band and let people hear it and experience this truly magical sounding gem.
Dave, in the clip the machine has all six heads on with feedback from head 6, so is near wonderful land but with the extra 2 heads, the first 4 heads are selectable on this machine and are exactly the same as the 4 heads on the model 2 , so it gives wonderful land peace pipe etc.
It has the woody tonality when playing the earliest material like Apache etc , but also is uncanny to the model 2 tone, ie, all my sorrows sounds like kingston.
Will be sorting some better clips as soon as she is fully up to speed,

Thanks Phil, it really does have something special about it. Are the two extra heads in between the original four used normally for WL, or are they later spacings ?

Hi Dave,
The J has 6 playback heads as opposed to the model 2 which you know has 4, the 4th being the regen, the first 4 heads on the J are the same level / spacing as the 4 heads on the model 2, so you can have the same echo as Wonderful land etc, but on the clip i selected all 6 heads , with regen coming from head 6 which gives that beautiful huge haloistic reverb, bigger than what the 4 heads alone would do although on the track Hank probably used the model 2 , the 6th head on the j is 603 ms approx, which is the same as the 5th head on the echomatic 1 model F , 5 head , which is deemed the Apache machine, although it can make you wonder what was used on the recording as with this head spacing ,and couple the fact that the j is 1959 , who knows ?

Thanks Phil I understand. I want to play around with what I have at my disposal and dare to hope that I may get something as magical. I can hear what's going on and it's delightful but I'm just not sure HOW it's going on.
I wish you lived closer so that I could have a look at it in the flesh so to speak. I'm disappointed that Lakeside didn't offer you a slot this year, I would have probably turned out to see you along with The Rapiers who are booked. Good luck with your proposed venture and I do hope to see you soon.
