Hiya Folks

So I went to bed last night and had this song on my mind ( the kids call it an ear worm!)

Back in the 60s the Casuals practised at my local youth club ( St Giles in Lincoln) mostly playing Shads stuff at the time, they then had success on opportunity knocks and had a Number 2 with Jesamine.
Still not able to get about due to a ruptured Achilles and nothing better to do I wondered if this tune would work as an instrumental

I know what you mean about "ear worm" - must be another family failing, I guess!
"Jesamine", despite charting at No 2, always WAS underated, but your instrumental rendidion certainly "does it proud". Marg, in the Kitchen as I was playing it, thought it was HBM himself!!!
Keyboards and Bass by the usual suspects?
Happy memories (I suppose there WERE some!) from The Gillies back in the day, eh?

Thanks Big bro, we can't take the credit for the backing on this I'm afraid I bought it in ( cries of "cheat" from the Lincoln branch)
I remember taking my Hofner congress to the youth club to let Howard use while the rest of the band were setting up ( Don Fortune took ages setting up his kit... all drummers do ya know).
How the Casuals ever got hold of a Marty Wilde composition ( well he co wrote it) who knows
Time to stop now I'm sounding like a nerd!!

Nice to hear a lovely instrumental version. Jesamine was first released by a South Wales group called 'The Bystanders', and I believe Marty Wilde wrote it for them. In my view it was a much better version than the one later released by the Casuals, but unfortunately it got very little 'air' time on the radio. The Casuals changed the tempo and their version was well supported on radio.

The Bystanders were a hugely talented group excelling in Beach Boys, Mamas & Papas, Four Seasons, and many other types of music. Their lead guitarist Micky Jones, sadly now passed away, was fantastic, and he had the high 'falsetto' voice needed for the type of music they featured. They released a number of recordings, including a minor hit with 98.6.

Some of them later formed a band called 'Man', a complete change in music, and they had much success touring in America.
