To be honest , If Ray Davies gets a Knighthood, an O.B.E. for Marty would have been more
fitting , Imho

As some of you may be aware, I don't agree that people should be honoured for doing no more than the job they're paid for.

But congratulations anyway to Marty.

Congratulations Marty!

I still think it was amazing that he got all the living original Shadows together again on the same stage show at his 50th anniversary show...which was more than the Shadows themselves did for their anniversary tours...

Marty with the Wildcats plus Eden Kane, Mike Berry and Mark Winter toured this autumn. I saw them in Eastbourne at the Congress Theatre, which was full (over 1600 seats).
Marty was in fine voice and his genuine feeling for the music came over clearly.
A well deserved award.

Yeah well deserved. He was a songwriter too which sometimes gets forgotten and he's certainly served his time.

I think it's more to do with the impact they are perceived to have had. That still leads to some surprising choices and omissions, but I'm pleased about Marty.

I think a lot of people (such as those in show business etc)receive such awards for their charity work and contributions, rather than just 'doing their jobs'...
