I've had a couple of Gordon Smith guitars, one, a solid was ok, the other a very flash Galaxy semi acoustic had inaccurate fretting, some frets we measured up to and over 20% out of position, basically a basket case... So... You're more likely to get a good guitar from a large manufacturer where procedures like fretting are well sorted unlike the situation you get from a one man business, which GSmith virtually is. If you are just playing as a hobby at home on your own you might not easily notice inaccurate fretting unless you use a looping machine or some kind of a recorder to record backing where, obviously, you'll soon discover if your guitar is not set up properly.
