Mid 60s Marvin

Postby balston11 » 30 Mar 2017, 18:24

Hi Guys I received this message from a Luthier can anyone help him?

I'm a Luthier working on a customer's Mid 60's Marvin that needs a bit of assistance! I need one control knob, and a wiring diagram. For some reason, the bridge PUP Tone control is non functional, so if its the Capacitor, I can not make out the original value marking??? Have tried in vain to locate one of these (Chicken Lips) knobs, you know, something one seeks, but never finds, LOL! Hope you can help, or direct me in this "Quest"?

Hi...the bridge pick-up doesn't have a tone control - the tone controls are for the middle and neck pick-ups...as on a Strat.

I presume the selector switch is a three position, not a five position modern style type? So only one pickup can be selected at a time?

It is possible to get the two "in-between" sounds on an original Marvin without too much trouble.

It's actually easier than it is on a Strat with a three-position switch, because the Burns switch is mechanically different.

Firstly- apologies to William for hijacking his thread...

Secondly, thanks for the info JimN- I think we should perhaps have posted our comments in Hans' thread (Burns Marvin-' under the hood') which would have been more appropriate! :D
