The ongoing tour reviews

Hi!

I was at the Gothenburg concert on the 18th of November and i must say what an astounding expreience. I have never been on them before since i missed the Final Tour concert in 04/05. I was totally blown away.

But i must ask. How was the concerts reviewd i the UK and other countries? Here in Sweden most journalists toally dissed the whole concerts. I´ll give you some examples:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Shadows solo guitarist and front man. In their eternal nerd glasses and constant smile, he should be the antithesis of a rock hero, and his greatest hallmark is to play melody lines so simple that a beginner student in 4th grade can take them."

Nils Hansson at Dagens Nyheter
nils.hansson@dn.se

------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the biggest newspaper in Sweden Aftonbladet:

"To watch the 69-year old Bow-legged dance outings over the stage is like watching your dad bug off with the girls at a school disco."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

One journalist got the hang of it anyway:

But to finish it with what I thought, you can not say except that it was an absolutely fantastic show. Here you can really talk about thoroughbred professionals who have taken what to give their audiences. This was no sour faces on the scene, which unfortunately can see in other contexts. Clear that you would like to have had a few more instrumental tracks from Shadows.
(But you'll have to settle for Shadows DVD from The Final Tour.)
That the jokes are largely practiced is one thing, it´s better than nothing, but it finds it´s way into people anyway. For the most part they don´t face the same audience twice.
Of course you have to buy the DVD to experience it again.

Tony Kaplan, Kvällsposten

All this loosely translated by Google Translator and the really wrong translated parts by me.

Hi,

I have a rule, never read reviews, try it for yourself,
if it turns out bad then you don't go again!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Daniel. Reviews here in UK have been very positive...

As to the comments, most people of no experience believe they can play this "simple" material like The Shadows.... until they try it and listen to a recording of themselves...

The man who owns our local car repair garage went to one of the Cardiff concerts. He said to me "It's not really my kind of thing - but it's the best show I've ever been to!".

A couple of friends who hardly knew anything about Cliff and the Shads came to the Paris concert just by curiosity, only because they knew I am a fan. They liked it enough to immediatly order the DVD !

Here in the USA our "mainstream" media is typically referred to as "lamestream" media.
I'd say the same applies to those negative reviews.

Always remember: those who can do, those who can't, teach or write about it.
