The sound does it for me.

In a post a few years ago I wrote a post about how I got into The Shadow music, well this is still the same and will never change. I was never into the Beatles but have to admit I did like some of their early stuff. I tend to listen to a lot of the early Shadows records but when I hear Wonderful Land on the radio I get goose bumps and just think what a beautiful piece of music, something the Beatles I'm afraid could never do for me but that's just my opinion. We all have different tastes in music I know but there will always be something about Special about The Shadows and the way they played their tunes. Does anyone else get goosebumps when hearing a particular Shads tune?

I like (and much prefer) the sound Hank was getting with the rosewood-neck Strats around 1962.

Sweet Dreams is an example of that beautiful, pure, tone.

So too is It's Been A Blue Day.

Yes indeed that nice warm mellow tone does it for me too.
Think also the Top Boost Amps they used circa late 62/ 63 were
of a particularly fine vintage year like a good wine!!!
Chateau Bottled That Sound !!!!

For me it's got to be Mustang followed closely by Quatermassters Stores. There are others but not just now, eh?

"It's been a blue day" sounds like a Burns to me! Or maybe the white Strat? I know that doesn't fit the timeline though.

Apache made such a impact on me all those decades ago, it still give goosebumps when I listen to it.....
Same for WL and The Savage.
But when I heared ans saw The Youngs Ones scene with Witch Doctor for the first time(late 70"s on TV), when I was a teenager....that was the first time I saw the shads in color as they were back in the days ....it floored me!
Still I prefer the solo part of WD instead of TS version.....It still puzzled me, why they choose TS solo with "bum notes" (still wish I could make these like he does)instead of the iconic film version aka Witch Doctor....

THin hat in place ;)
Cheers Rob
