Given that this song was and probably still is very popular in India and among the Indian community over here, there is a good argument for putting 'Return to the Alamo' on all future Shadows 'best of' / 'Greatest Hits' compilations. It certainly shouldn't go unacknowledged.

In addition to what is mentioned already, someone has recently pointed this out to me, so I can't in all honesty take the credit for noticing...

53 seconds into The Shadows 'Return of the Alamo' is the same 5 steps down as Abba's 'Does Your Mother Know' - first heard at 26 seconds in the line 'can't take a chance on a chick like you'...


Listening to it, it is certainly true. As far as I recall, the ABBA song was released around 1978-1979, so definitely after Return to the Alamo. I can't say I noticed it at the time, but if I did, it had been completely forgotten until today! Have a listen and see what you think...
