I watched most of the YT Quuartermasters St. performances, home and stage versions.
It seems that nobody knows how the solo was played by Hank, back in the sixties.
Also, I could not find a Shadows live version. before I try my own version, I would like to know how Hank played it.
Anyone?

There are two live versions of QS on this CD of late 50s/early 60s Cliff+Shads BBC sessions...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tell-Baby-Call ... c+sessions

...which I'm ashamed to say I haven't gotten round to buying yet!

Indeed. However, the only difference between the versions is that the second includes an introduction by Brian Matthew and Cliff Richard. The musical content is identical.

While listening this song on the LP "the best of the shadows" and on the CD "The Early Years 1959 - 1966" I noticed that the stereo balance was reversed on one of them. At the latter recording the rhythm guitar is right, drums and bass are left. Otherwise it's the same recording.

I wonder which of them is original.

Do yo mean you need a tab version of the solo to learn it?

Goran's site has chords and a tab for this tune which may help (see the link in the Links section above)

Yes, that helps; I can hear that Hank starts the solo during an A chord with e-g on the g and b strings, then goes back to 5th pos., to play 2 low a's on the d string, then c (hammer on to c#) and e on the g and b strings.
Is he playing on the same strings during the next E chord, (a quarter lower)?
The part at the end of the solo differs from the record, but it affirms what he does at first during the first A chord of the solo.

The one with the bass guitar and drums on the left hand side, rhythm guitar on the right hand side and lead guitar in the centre, is the original stereo version, as first issued on the 1969 UK LP "Somethin' Else!!" and also for instance on the later UK CD's.
