When David Beckham left Manchester United - his fans still kept attending Old Trafford. New stars emerged. Did not mean the the greats were forgotten.
So with the Shadows - who have more than fulfilled a life time of music for us - we should keep going now - with new stars emerging - and we should embrace these and remember why we are where we are.

There are many excellent players - the Northern Celebrations seem to attract some of these.
I understand Roger Alcock is braving a Train journey up north.

I also think the Friday night should continue. Maybe this is where individual top players(Some from this site) could show everything is possible. This night is like a club night with club spirit and encouragement.

Maybe if the music is good enough - then maybe celebrities will come out of interest. We could then charge them for the ticket ---- (Joke :o _)

No lets keep it going - if we get celebrities - its a bonus.

Looking forward to this years.

Indeed they do. At Newcastle last year not only was there two days of Shads music, played by both club members and visiting bands, but Bruce was there in the audience -- and he popped up and said a few words at the end.
I am all for the event at Lakeside and, in the same breath, all for Newcastle, Scarborough and similar events put on by other Shads clubs up and down the country. Thanks to all these enterprises, you can pick the one that's most convenient or, of course, binge on them all.

Ask yourself an important question, would you feel a twinge of sadness if the Lakeside event stopped, if so then support it, and also encourage younger folk of your acquaintance to become exposed to this wonderful music, so that when those of us of 'that age' pass on there will be a legacy of players to continue where we once were.
