It's great to hear how concerts used to sound with just three AC30s and a drum kit. The sound of the lead guitar drops away in Flingel Bunt but apart from that I thought it was a really professional performance.

I found that it brought back many memories.

Hi Roger, I think I can see mikes in front of the AC30s, probably going into a mixing desk for the film/TV-recording, but probably not used for the PA. There might have been something fault with the mike in front of Hank’s amp, but the sound balance could still be ok for the audience at the venue.

Thanks so much for posting the video Chris!! :) :D

I hadn't seen that show before..

Great stuff, even allowing for a few issues with volume levels for Hank and John..but OTOH, it was great also to hear Bruce's terrific rhythm guitar playing so clearly!

The unique Burns guitar sound is also very apparent..quite different from the earlier Strat sound IMHO...and I noticed that Hank seemed to use the middle and neck pickups for most songs...whereas he used mainly the bridge pickup on Strats..also Bruce was mainly using his neck pickup for that great clean full rhythm sound too..

As we know, ask a musician to clap along to a song and they'll clap on the off beat, whereas a member of the general public will clap to the on beat. For Choo-choo, the musicians in the audience must have got in first, since the clapping is on the off beat. For the next number, Dance On, Bruce actually starts the audience with an on beat - and they all follow!

Made me chuckle!

The caption of the clip says July 12th, 1964, but is this maybe a transmission date? I always thought the concert took place on May 8th, 1964.

Indeed and also great to hear one of the very first live renditions of their then recent single "The Rise And Fall Of Flingel Bunt".

Thought Chattanooga sounded great.

I used to open my set with that with the Three Burns. Great version. And yes, they sounded very good with just the AC30's and the Drum Kit.

Thanks for sharing
