I came across this recent Hank Marvin interview on YouTube from a couple of months ago when he was appearing at a Manouche festival in Brisbane. Quite interesting as there's not much current news of The Shads (in their retirement!) on this site...

Great interview, really enjoyed it. Nice to hear Hank talking freely instead of having to serve up the same stories we've heard time and again as happens on the five-minute TV interviews (getting the first Strat, meeting Cliff, etc). Loved the stuff about Newcastle's football and music (and the similarity to Liverpool! Never thought I'd hear Hank mention my club, no matter how briefly!).

Thanks for posting it, Clive.

Glad you enjoyed it - I did too! Much as I respect Hank I felt that he was almost veering into Spinal Tap territory with his comment about never seeing the wind! He seems to have forgotten that he played guitar on the original Evita album. Glad he's still playing in the Gypsy Jazz idiom - not heard anything about that for a few years...

Nice to see the man himself again, in good spirits.
The girl who's interviewed Hank is Dutch, she can play and sing gipsy very well.
She has some nice gipsy guitars...on YT there are a few video's of her, one she's playing with two of the Rosenberg brothers.
One of her Selmer type guitars is a Leo Eimers one....a well known Dutch luthier.

Cheers Rob
