Obviously it's a great idea - and if possible to feature the line ups with Jet and Tony, Lic, John Rostill and John Farrar would be even more fully representative of the Classic Shadows than the first release

I've just dug out Shadsfax #37, with Rob's 17 page article (plus another page from Hoffers!) on the Shads at the BBC recordings! I shall go and make a cup of tea (a BIG one) and have a read! I may be some time...

...Fascinating stuff! So it seems that, as of 2002, the BBC had a pretty good selection of material to choose from, if you included that stuff taped by 'Mr Engineer' between 1960 and 1962. Obviously none of the latter has materialised on the recent CD, which is a terrible shame. It's also a shame that, from the looks of it, there is nothing from 1963, 1964 and up until Christmas Day 1965.

Anyway, an incredible feat of research and, by the sounds of it, endurance! I sincerely hope that a second volume of the BBC CD will eventually see the light of day and would hope that there is even the slight possibility that some recordings from those 'missing years' may turn up. I notice from Hoffers' appendix that the 'other' 1973/74 version of Apache is mentioned, although he omits Dance On, The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt and The Frightened City from the John Peel sessions.

I hope there has been sufficient interest in this, enough to see it come to fruition this year perhaps?

Either that or the possible Shadows in stereo 1967-x.
I would still love another Abbey Road style CD with outtakes but i feel they don't want to release what's in the vaults as it's (possibly?) substandard.

Does anyone know if the 'Early Years' follow up has been given the green light yet?

Do you think the follow up will not happen for some reason? I assumed it was just a matter of time.

I just wondered if it was approved yet, that's all.
