"What's the name of the new show?"

"Top of the Pops"

"Won't that be confusing? I mean there's already a show called..."

"Nah. It'll be fine".

My copy has arrived and indeed the Shadows put in a great performance backing Cliff. Not the same as the records with some appealing variations.

I enjoyed most of it. Some very variable quality here and there, but some of it is as good as you could hope for. Not too impressed with the booklet and I was surprised to see that there were NO song writing credits anywhere!

I was particularly intrigued to learn that they (Cliff and the Shads) were planning on making a film version of their panto Aladdin. Never heard this before. It might have been good. Shame it never happened. Maybe. Also, in 1967, they were planning on making a 'serious' or more 'dramatic' film... according to Cliff anyway. And I have to wonder who they got to play the harmonica on this version of Time Drags By. Did they drag Jimmy Page into the studio, I wonder...?

I don't know Christopher Chen or why he thinks this. Listening to the CDs I'd say they are mono. Also, the CD cover says they are taken from radio broadcasts, which indeed is what they seem to be. No TV stuff.

This was made and appeared on TV on Christmas Day 1967. An audio version exists on bootleg
