Some music trade press ads I have found while trawling the archives, thought they might be of some interest

Good stuff. Just a shame that so many of those releases met with so little success. The ad for Tasty was obviously put together when they thought the album would have 12 tracks... in the end it had just 11. Does anyone know exactly when it was recorded? A shame they only recorded 7 new tracks for it. A fantastic album. The 1970s was a highpoint for them, creatively, but it wasn't until the end of the decade that they started to have real chart success again.

Just take a look at my article on the instrumentation of the albums: http://www.malcolmcampbell.me.uk/instru ... file01.pdf

Thanks. March-April 1977. I suspect that it was the huge and unexpected success of 20 Golden Greats that spurred them into action. I will also guess that, quite possibly, The Air That I Breathe may have been intended originally as the 12th track... (just a guess)

As Ivo's records indicate, Tasty was not recorded as an entity. The recordings were made in 1974 and 1977. However none of the tracks had been released up to this point so, to the record buyer, they were all new.

In these days, the musicians were working as Shadows only part-time, so EMI would have had to wait until it had sufficient tracks to make an LP of them.
