Abel, I really loved these recordings and the playing is excellent especially Shadoogie as good as the original IMHO
The only thing I found was that the recordings hadn't been normalised, and had to turn the amp up unnecessarily just to get reasonable volume.

What backing tracks did you use and what echo device, as the echoes were brilliant. I have listened to Shadoogie twice now and you really have nailed the tone of Hank's guitar perfectly, and every nuance of his technique, sheer brilliance on your part. I hope you Justin isn't offended by this interesting challenge to his own uncanny likeness in playing. Just goes to show, that Hanks style and tone varied so much. Wonderful

Hi all,

I was surprised you noticed this Space as it was done only because it was requested by the City of Palos Verde and Seal Beach? to hire us for gigs.
These are rehearsal recording with our new band so called "International Men of Mystery" (for now). as you can see by the many mistakes. We are waiting for the engineer to come back to L.A. and do the mixing and masteing of the CD.
The low sound is due to some MySpace settings.
There is no backing track, it's a real live and rehearsal.
The echo is Yamaha MagicStomp with Shadows echoes programmed by our common friend and expert Charlie Hall.
I will check the other US band tonight on MySpace, it looks really good.

Blessings,
Abel

Abel, that is even more amazing that the band is tight and authentic sounding and would love to get hold of you guys doing backing tracks for me to use LOL too.

Keep up the good work, its really awesome and nice coming from, the States that were never Shadows lovers all those years ago, when you had your own instrumental bands. So it's nice to see the Shadows finally getting recognition after all these years by people in America at last.

Hello all,
I am new here. My name is Jeff, but I go as Bigtikidude on the Surf forums.
I am a friend of Abdels, and thought I would chime in here.
I am a Shadows fan, but do not have everything they have done.
I Have a few of the early albums on cd, and a couple best ofs and box sets.

I hope its ok to post this here, and I will probably put it on the calendar area too.

Abdel's new band "The Men of Mystery" are playing at a huge surf music convention that I am doing in the states in August. I know that the Shadows are not surf, but I appreciate that the music are cousins to each other.
;)

anyways, here is the info to the event "The Men of Mystery" are playing":
http://surfguitar101.com/modules.php?na ... ic&t=11621

If any of you happen to be in the States on Vacation or Business around that time,
it would be great if you could swing by the convention to see them, and some of the surf bands.

thanks, and looking forward to reading more of this site.
Cheers,
Jeff(btd)

Hi Jeff,

Good to see you here.

It's worth mentioning that these are rehearsal recordings with a basic recording unit with 2 mics in the middle of the room.
It's generally the very first take (and you can hear the mistakes as I stated before).
The studio recordings sound Much better, but they haven't been mixed and mastered yet.
We are still waiting for the engineer to come back to L.A. to do the job.

Blessings,
Abel
