Not really anything to do with your post Jim, but when I saw it I thought of Martin Taylor doing Nuages and had a look to see if he did it on the tube in the hope of posting a link here. No luck so far but I found this little gem while searching.
Its pretty unusual I think but very interesting. Saves the heel of your hand too :D

Fabulous stuff - a few months ago someone (I think it was Phil McGarrick) posted some of the Rosenberg trio gypsy jazz guitar pieces on the site which are in a similar vein to this - again wonderful gypsy guitar playing which are well worth a look at on U Tube
When I get to heaven I'll ask God if he will confer the abilty to play this sort of guitar music , on me!!
There's more to life than Shadows music only - albeit wonderful stuff.

Best Wishes

Tony

I was planning to ask the Devil the same question. He has all the best tunes, apparently

I saw Tommy Emmanuel play here in Oz last year- he also did a superb version of Nuages, and also Tears, and Ellington's C-Jam Blues..

Prior to doing these tunes, he announced into his stage mic- 'I'm now going to play unplugged(!!)'

Everyone laughed, for the ironic comment- but then he pulled out the guitar lead, pulled out the rubber feedback buster plug from the guitar soundhole, then sat down on a piano stool, adjusted the stage mic down in front of his 'Mouse' (the small bodied Maton EG808 I think) and got the best, most authentic Django sound I've ever heard...

Sorry if I'm biased because he's an Aussie- but he really IS THE Guv'nor..!

I had the pleasure of seeing Frank in concert at the Hawth theatre in Crawley back in March. He and his quartet were the support act to Tommy Emmanuel and it was a truely outstanding evening. FV openned and then joined Tommy for about four numbers towards the end of Tommy's act. They were both totally amazing.

Can you imagine Frank Vignola playing with Tommy Emmanuel?

No? Try this, then throw your guitars away and weep:
