hI EVERYONE.
I think it is strange that no one has mention that Jet Harris did not played on Scarlet O Hara and Applejack but Joe Moretti.
Ref. Tony MEEHAN page 149. What do we think about that.?
He also dit not played on Theme for a fallen idol.
For me it was a big disappointment. Like to hear other comments on the subjects.

Take two:
I first raised the subject of this book in early May , when it was first published. Although my thread attracted 192 views, there were no replies. Perhaps nobody had read it?.
I went ahead and bought the book and although I have yet to finish it, I would admit to being stunned.
There are many members of this forum who are fiercely protective of The Shadows' band members and this is admirable. Indeed we are told that some members of this forum are in fact members of the band or related to the band ie Warren Bennett. This is the reason why I have not brought Tony Meehans comments to the fore, I have no desire to becoming another Salmann Rushdie, being the subject of hate messages or indeed simply hurting someones feelings. I would admit to being stunned by the fact that Jet does not appear to have played on his all of his own greatest hits through his health problems. I was also surprised that he may not have been the nice man we all thought he was ?. The subject of his non-involvement in the reunion tour is explained in rather sad detail which may be rather un-pallatable to his fans.
In closing, it should be remembered that this book is the result of Jet withdrawing his co-operation with Dave Nicholson. It contains articles written by some of Jet's ex wives + former band mates who must have given their permission to allow their contributions to be published ?, this fact lends the book some credibility, but how much?

The allegation that Jet did not play on these recordings is not new - it has been on Joe Moretti's website for some time. However, Tony's comments would seem to confirm the matter.

The fact that Joe Moretti played on those tracks has been in the public domain for years. That is not something new. It is immaterial. Jet was a legend for what he did with the Shadows. Joe was not on Apache or Nivram and Jet will always be remembered for what he did. Not what he didn't do.
It was obvious that he wouldn't be included in any reunion shows for various reasons. Why dredge it up again.

I don't believe it. If it is true, did Jet play at all on these tracks? Maybe not lead guitar, but at least bass guitar?

It wasn't unusual in the 60s for folk not to play on their hit records.
IIRC The Love Affair had three hits and didn't play on any of them.

This was and will always be touchy subject.
I interviewed Tony Meehan a couple of years before he passed away and he confirmed Jet did not play on those aforementioned records. He played those titles live on tour but it was easier and quicker for Joe Moretti to record the lead guitar on the sessions.
I've always steered clear of these facts as I never wanted to upset Jet or anyone.
