With lead guitarist Hank B. Marvin's twangy, melodious Stratocaster, The Shadows provided the template and inspiration for a thousand copycat groups worldwide and were the most influential and successful British instrumental group of all time.
This compilation comprises everything they recorded between 1958 (when they were originally known as The Drifters) and the end of 1961, including an unfeasibly-rare South African EP.
Also includes a pre-Drifters single featuring Hank B. Marvin and Bruce Welch. When they were with The Five Chesternuts.
Features their worldwide hits: 'Apache' (a UK No. 1); 'Man of Mystery'; 'The Stranger', 'F.B.I.' (their signature tune); 'The Frightened City'; 'Kon-Tiki' (their second UK No. 1) and 'Peace Pipe'.
Also includes their chart-topping Eps 'Shadows' and 'Shadows to the Fore', as well as their chart-topping LP 'The Shadows'.

Seems to be missing the live 1961 Paris Olympia tracks that the Just About As Good As It Gets release contains.
Although The Shadows will not get performing royalties, as these recordings are now out of copyright, they will still receive songwriting royalties for any material they wrote.
Unusual front cover photo that I had not seen before .......

Yep, the cover photo is probably the best aspect of the whole thing! It was the first item listed on an email shot of new releases sent to me by Jazmail.
Jim - I don't actually possess a copy of the CD, but other Jasmine label reissue/historical compilations that I have heard, credit transfers and digital processing to Tall Order Mastering which, most likely, you will know more about than me. Certainly, I have found the general sound quality to be of a consistently high standard.
