Hi Phil,
Thanks for the suggestions and kind comments. I've tried using the volume pedal on my Tonelab but can't quite get it to do what I want. Now how difficult can that be, I hear some folk ask - it either increases or decreases the volume, surely?
Well, yes it does and if I strike the note before pressing the pedal that works fine - you don't hear the initial click of attack just the violin-like warm tone as the note softly wells up and chimes in but if I then immediately ease back off it to do the same thing with the next note the first one doesn't linger on in the reverb as I'd hoped but immediately loses its volume by reversing the effect. I was hoping the first note, once increased in volume by the pedal would carry on because of the echoes/reverb but it doesn't.
A bit like throwing a ball and once let go it carries on whilst you quickly pick up and release the next one, so that a succession of them end up flying through the air. Maybe I'm being thick and it's not supposed to do this but that was the effect I'd hoped to achieve. Perhaps the pedal should only be used on a single note rather than a succession of them and I must leave a pause long enough for the first to complete its sustained effect before repeating the procedure with another.
I can feel the draught from all the heads shaking in disbelief and wondering what's with all this ball twaddle . . .
Regards,
Martyn
