Hymne (Vangelis/Chet Atkins) Hank Marvin style.+ BT & Tabs

My Son emailed me a surprise Christmas present on Christmas day which was a backing track to this beautiful song “Hymne” which he had made. A very simple song to play written by the Greek composer Vangelis and re-arranged by Chet Atkins.
I’ve re-arranged it again in the Hank Marvin style and played it on my Alan Brason Strat with Kinman FV-HMS pickups on the middle position.
Recorded through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with Echoes from the past (EFTP) patch 0-36.

The Backing track is available to purchase from my website and the Tabs are Free.

I hope you like “HYMNE”

Cheers Phil

What an excellent "take" on this track from Vangelis's "Opera Sauvage Suite" from 1979.
Chet played it acoustically on his version and it has lent itself so well to being re-arranged into, not so much the Hank style, but the clean, clear, crisp style of an well played electric guitar.
Absolutely delightful!!!
Thanks Phil.

Phil

What a nice simple lovely piece.
I looked at Andrews's music/tabs for this and played it through first time with no mistakes.
Your sensitive meticulous playing of Hymne shows that music does not have to be complicated to be effective.

Best wishes

Tony

Hi Ian, To be honest I don't know much about Vangelis other than he wrote "Chariots of Fire".
Someone requested a BT for this back in July, I showed it to Andrew who said he liked it and that was the last I heard of it until Christmas day.
Chet's version is fantastic as you would expect from the Genius. I'm very glad you like the simplified version which takes 2 guitars to do what Chet did one one. Lol.
All the best... Phil

Hi Tony - I'm glad the Tabs worked - I did rough pencil tabs and Andrew Sibelius'd them.Lol
Yes I think along with Carilion it's the simplest song I have ever recorded but a great melody and I'm very glad you liked it.
All the best... Phil
