Kon Tiki with eTap2hw

I haven't posted sound files for quite some time, but I was inspired by Gary Taylor's video to record my own version of Kon Tiki, definitely my favorite Shadows tune, using my Ampworks and eTap2hw and my Alan Brason "Strat" (CS 54s and Gibson 12 L5 strings) . . .

Hope you like it.

Hi Bojan, I liked that! Your tone is very close in the verses and when you use the middle pickup in the chord breaks (one time, after the solo, I think you don´t! :D ) it´s spot on!

You could have a little more echo volume over all, but otherwise it´s very good!

Thanks Kurt, you are right but I concentrated more on the sound of the guitar than the echo itself . . . and by the way, I used the middle pickup throughout the entire song . . . It just sounded better :)

Hi Bojan
When I saw this I just had to give it a listen and I'm glad I did. It was both interesting and enjoyable
and thinking you played it using the middle pup and with the eTap2hw of which I am a great fan of
A very fine recording worth the time and effort and one to be proud of.

Excellent playing Bojan and your recording really shows off how good the sound from the eTap2hw is.

Thanks for replying guys. I'm glad you like it.

When I was doing the recording, I just could not get it right. In addition to Ampworks, I also use a Boss EQ (GE7) but no matter what I did I was just not satisfied. My sound somehow lacked "body" and surprisingly enough, had too many mids. So, finally, I took out the EQ altogether and switched to the middle pickup, turned the tone on the guitar to 5 or 6 and that sounded somehow right, at least for me.

As for the Ampworks, I used by Vox AC15 setting (amp type: AC15, cabinet: 112VOX, gain: 10 o'clock, treble: 12 o'clock, middle: all the way, and bass: 10 o'clock).

In Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro, which I used for recording, I added some plate reverb to the lead sound, mainly using the ending as my orientation. Perhaps I could have added some more reverb, but as I said, I concentrated more on getting the sound itself as close as possible.

On the eTap2hw I used the Echomatic-II bank setting (Program 3, Level 5, Mode F, and Feedback 5).

Cheers,
Bojan

P.S. Oh, and by the way, it sounds much better when you turn up the volume !! :)
