To all concerned,
I joined the site on behalf of my father, a lifelong Shadows fan. He plays guitar and in particular the Shads. For his 70th birthday we recorded some Shads stuff and put it on Soundcloud:

Best regards

Well your Dad can certainly handle a guitar Darren, and he puts some nice personal touches into the music. I think he has a favourite pick up position that he sticks to and that gives him his own sound.
There is one little problem, with the recording, not the playing. On the introduction to Find me a Golden Street each time he hits the E note there seems to be some kind of chime taking place. I've listened a few times, on the cruddy old laptop speakers and through a decent pair of headphones, and I don't think my hearing's croaked yet.
I'd be interested to see if anyone else hears it.
Regards,
Len

I enjoyed listening to these numbers. It makes a nice change after all the sound files we hear using various echo units to reproduce "that sound" as closely as possible. Here you hear Ralph's own guitar sound and playing style and it brings a freshness to these great old tunes. Who played the backings?
Oh, by the way,

G'Day all
Thats a nice collection of Shads classics. Well played and great sound too.
I can also hear that harmonic "chime" (first one at 0.23)in Golden Street - it all adds to the "tone" of the piece. Maybe a characteristic of the guitar or echo, or even Ralph's playing technique - whatever, its sounds good.
Cheers
