posting sound files

I have tried to post a soundfile here, but it is apparently too big. I have posted a few tracks to Soundcloud, so if anyone would like to have a quick browse they are under my name "Rick Courtney" on https://soundcloud.com/stream.
Any tips on how to reduce the size of the file so that I can post on here, please?

What is the size and format of the file you can’t post here?

Hello Ian, MP3 6.74 Mb is one example. I looked in the Audacity program which I have, but it didn't seem to have any option to "compress"...?

I just looked up another of my tracks, "Kid" is an MP3 file, 8.21 Mb.

Hi Rick,

Which one of your soundfiles are you trying to post?

Hi Rick
Here's Kidhttps://soundcloud.com/rick-courtney/kid-bt-by-the-vibratos-original-by-the-pretenders

In Soundcloud under the track you want click on share, it will then open a page on which there is a URL. Copy the URL. in Shadowmusic when you compose a message click on the box URL just above the part where you usually type your message ( text box) paste the URl that you have copied into the space between the 2 ( url) signs that appear in the text box

Hope this helps

I hope that I'm not over-indulging in posting these soundfiles, but it's nice for me to get people to hear them (as I play rhythm in a local band, I do get to play a couple of lead numbers only, I feel that I'm stretching my wings a bit), any comments on here are well-informed and useful!

The site is now experimentally set to accept files of up to 10 Mb so I hope that will solve the problem. We'll have to keep an eye on it.

However, anyone linking to files stored on Soundcloud, Clypit and other such third party sites is doing us a favour because this site does not have limitless capacity!

Hope this helps - Iain
