Hi all,
I hope I didn’t disfigure the tune too much.
Please disregard the misses and the sound as it is a live take and it’s sometimes challenging to
maintain a clean double-stop at this speed.
I found the backing track on Youtube and I guess it’s taken from the Ventures version.
Hope you can still like some of it.

Glad you liked it (I personally don't feel happy with my version, it must have offended the purists).

I too, am surprise by the sound of this Squier.
Probably a little hot for me as it is a Jo. Mascis signature.

I think that the Mustang IV amp also deliver a very good sound for a Solid State amp.
You have to keep in mind that what you hear is a live (room) sound from the P.A and from my guitar amp both behind me.
That's why no mixing is possible

That's how I prefer to see and hear any of our efforts Abel, it's natural and organic and demonstrates guitar playing skills rather than fancy recording techniques. As you should be aware by now I'm an admirer of your playing, and that's what impresses me.

Glad you liked it.

You may be right, but the only frustrating thing about my live videos is that it sounds much better in the room than
through the tiny built in mics of the camera.

So maybe the solution for me would be to get a kind of a professional camera, or at least a
better one than my Sony mini video camcorder.

This leads me to think that those who record with direct connections to camera and PC, are
maybe replicating the sound they hear in their room.

Have a look at this little device Abel, it might surprise you. It really does improve the sound quality of iphone recordings. One snag - it has to be an iphone, or one with the lightning connector.

Is it an app, and where to find it and how to use it?.
I never recorded myself with the phone.

Hi, Abel.

I have the previous Fender (made in Japan) metallic purple version of the J Mascis Jazzmaster - which I bought at a very good price from our friend David Martin around ten or eleven years ago. It was fitted with the "normal" MIJ Jazzmaster pickups, which themselves are slightly different from the USA version. Not liking their sound, I had a British maker - Cats Whisker Pickups - wind me a pair of P90-types made to fit inside Jazzmaster covers.

The guitar sounds incredible and is hugely versatile, with sound and response for everything from Bakersfield country to Manhattan-styled jazz, taking in the twang of the music we all love on the way. As far as I can see, the pickups on the Squier version of the J Mascis, which you have, are very similar to the P90s I had made, with adjustable polepieces and a hotter response than either the USA or MIJ standard Jazzmaster pickups. I am sure that you can get the sound you want, though you might have to back off the gain a little as compared with the settings you'd use for the lower output of a Stratocaster.
