Whatever Happened to Jay Jef ??

Hi,

I am in the process of reorganising my digital music collection including CD's that I have ripped before and which I am now re-doing in higher quality (by the way, I am using Audirvana instead of iTunes - I got fed up with iTunes taking over and so decided to put my hand in my pocket and buy something a bit more sophisticated and which I can control). In going through my collection I came across a number of tracks that I downloaded from these websites over the years by a guitarist going under the handle 'Jay-Jef'. He is very talented and produced some great tracks from BT's that I understand he produced from midi-files. I recall he once very generously gave me some of his BT's too.

However, sadly, he seems to have disappeared under the radar. As far as I remember he lives in Australia and, I regret to say, I believe he had problems with his eyesight which is why he enjoyed playing guitar so much.

Does anyone know what became of him? Is he still a member here but no longer contributing? It would be nice to know and, if he still plays, I for one would welcome hearing some tracks from him again.

Cheers,

Ian

I seem to recollect his name was John Jeffries and I’ve checked all the sites and there is no mention of him, even with variations in the spelling of his name and his nickname.

Hi Alan,

Yes, John Jeffries, that's a name I remember. You seem to have reached the end of the same trail that I followed and with the same result. A shame, really, he was very talented and a great contributor to these sites.

Yes, I remember him very well. I have some of his recordings. He played beautifully and had a very specific sound; I believe he used the bridge/middle pickup combination . . .

There are many people I remember from 20, 15, or 10 years ago who are no longer active here and I often wonder what has happened to them. For some we can find out, for others we have no way of knowing.
