My second TVS3 and Atlantis

I recently rid myself of a lot of stuff that I bought over the years and made a few quid, enabling me to buy a Meazzi Echomatic and a TVS3 and I'm celebrating getting my hearing back too,
I just can't stop playing my guitar so I'm 'at it' again.
The compression is important on Atantis, as well as the echo. Thanks to Paul Rossiter, Eddie Risbridger and Amanda for their help and inspiration.

I think that’s a pretty good lead sound, Dave. I wouldn’t know the recipe the way you do, but I like the result. Ideally I’d like it a little further forward in the mix, if I can be picky.

What’s the backing? It’s similar to the Shads Polydor remake but I’m not sure it is ...

It's strange you should say you'd like it further forward in the mix Iain, I did have more guitar but scrapped it and turned it down because I thought it was too loud.
The BT is UB Hank.

Hi Dave

Good work again. Take this with a pinch of salt as it may well be the crappy built in speakers and my shoddy memory, to my ears it just needs a little fattening up or the high end being tamed a little. I think you have mixed it about right, to my ears I wouldn't want it any further forward.

I know what you mean about being at it again, id hardly played the last 10 years until lockdown 1 and more recently getting one of Charlie and Johns signature echoes has really rejuvenated my lost passion for playing.

Keep 'em coming look forward to hearing more.

Scott

My own hearing isn't what it was, so I may well be wrong!

You're not wrong Iain, I had a listen to The Shadows original single again and on the iPad Hank's guitar is panned to one side and it's a bit louder than mine, but mine is central.
It's all subjective really, I had it roughly the same but I asked Joy for an opinion and she felt the guitar was over loud. It's all about opinions.
What I am pleased with is the tone, simply because that is the sound of the guitar through the Fender amp with no tone added, Bass & Treble on 1. Then DI into the Focusrite and into the computer. The fact is that we all have the sound at our fingertips, it's just in the set up. :)

Its certainly good that you used a non Vox amp to get this sound Dave . It is not bad overall , just not an exact recreation of the record, but certainly reminiscent.

I don't know if it's possible to make a decent BT from the original Shads recording of Atlantis? If it is it would be interesting to try it with that.

Hi Dave sounds great
but there seems to be a dramatic change in the lead guitars volume from the opening theme and into the verse
the lead guitar in the verse sections needs to be louder in the mix .
maybe im listening through different media . im on my PC with headphones
regards
Jay
