New instrumental - well, not so new

Gunslinger is probably the first instrumental I ever wrote - difficult to remember as this was way back in the 70s! I've had several attempts to record it over the years, getting progressively better as the quality of my gear improved. I think I'm about there now.

Used my Classic Series 70s Strat, fitted with DiMarzio SDS-1s, quite powerful for single coils, more like a P90 really.

There's a funny story about this track.

I spent the evening putting the final touches to it, noticed it was getting a bit late, thought to myself, "I'll finish this tomorrow," switched everything off, put the guitar in its case, zipped it up and went to bed.

Next morning I came down and unzipped the case. Guess what I found!

A mouse.

So I zipped the case back up, chucked it in the car and drove a couple of miles out into the country. Of course the moment I opened the case the mouse jumped out and scuttled off in the direction of the nearest bit of green. Then I went home and had breakfast (and of course completed the recording).

But I thought afterwards, it was early morning and there was no-one about. Had anyone been walking or driving past, they'd have seen a car come to a stop, a man jump out, get a guitar case out of the boot, open it, close it again, put it back and drive off.

They'd have thought I was mad! (Actually, when I noticed he'd eaten part of the lining, I was.)
