Where are all the songwriters . . .

There are a lot of talented guitarists here, and surprisingly not many original songs. Can't see why not with the decades of experiences herein, and the tons of effects, backings available these days.

I have to say, for me anyway, I find it so much more satisfying to have completed something original than a pure copy of someone else's.
Get out there and do it guys - hum something that could be a verse, put it on a recorder, then hum something that could be a chorus and you're there !
Mind you, if it sounds a bit like like 'My Way' or 'White Christmas' . . . hmmm

This is what I'm currently working on. It was originally going to be a surf instrumental called 'Frantic', i.e. those frantic tremolo sounds that the Aussies liked so much in the early 60's but is turning out more as a Morricone type Western feel. Who would have guessed, it's the magic of writing stuff every time, no one knows what it'll sound like when done. Honestly anyone can do this stuff, just sit down and let it pour out of you.

So here's a first, this recording is neither finished, tweeked or even started but the foundation is there - verse and chorus. Plus 'ideas' such as walking cowboy boots and spurs sounds / gunshots etc. You can do the same !

I'll probably have it complete by the end of the week to come.

'Gunfight at the Rio Grande' unfinished . . .

I always enjoy a good original guitar instrumental.

Nice, looking forward to hearing the finished product.

If you look back you will see that I have posted several of my original pieces on here (I also have several others in various stages of completion). But it seems most people are more interested in hearing the same old stuff repeated ad nauseam.

I get the same at Shadows clubs, when I play something original I look round the room and often notice I'm the only person listening.

Don't worry, if The shadows were never a known band and they played The Savage in a local club today for the first time,I'm betting few people would bat an eyelid of appreciation. All about different tastes I guess.

Rather like the man who comes to his doctor and says

"I think I have covid Doc"
" Why do you think that ?" says the doc
The man clutches his throat and says "I seem to be losing my sense of taste."

The doc leans towards him and says " Well, that would explain those shoes you're wearing !"

Hi Bob,

I too am looking forward to hearing the finished version, but is there going to be anyone left to do it with all those bullets flying around?

All the best

Gary
