I just had to give this a go, It makes such a cool Instrumental, I really wanted to try mixing the original and live versions.
I used my own BT with two rythmn tracks (Tanglewood Jumbo), one lead and two harmony tracks with odd fills and slide in places (82 Strat) One bass track (FenderP) and Groove Agent for drums.

You made here a wonderful instrumental of this beautiful Timothy Smith/ Eagles song with the same laid back athmosphere. I liked your home made BT verry well done!!

Fabulous version of this that puts my effort that I posted here to shame. I wanted to keep mine simple but yours is so much more interesting with the free and relaxed nature of its patterns - and the multi harmonies are simply superb. Were you just playing and recording the harmonies on separate tracks or did you produce any of them as one hit, so to speak? And did you use a slide or are these parts all fingered and bent to suit?
Lovely sound that surely gets my vote.

Hi Martyn, Thanks for the good words, but I want just to say that there is no shame in the version you put out. Some have more in them than others and sometimes this could be the undoing of a great song! You know the saying, 'less is more', maybe I was lucky this time, but it doesn't always work that way.
To answer your questions, there were some double-stops played, mainly in the improvised part in the second part of the second verse and a couple of others with hammer-ons here and there. But the chorous and the ends of some of the verses are full of three part harmonies on separate tracks.
I used a slide in the third verse, just before the second chorus. When I play this in a band with vocals, I use a slide too, but when I play it live with BTs I bend the notes as I could never change smoothly from one to the other, especially out of the chorus into the verse, not the real thing but it's passable.

I can just imagine the difficulties when playing live and have never tried a proper slide. Any designs/makes better than others or they essentially all of a muchness?
