Thanks for sharing Phil...I admire your playing anyway even if you used a broomstick with barbed wire..
Fact is...there are SOOOO many great pickups to choose from out there that in the long run you can't tell the difference between
the lot the longer you experiment with all kinds of sets..
I'm glad I have my original '63 L-series Strat so I don't need to search for anything else..
On a side note..if one has all the right equipment and plays like shite then good pups won't help either..

(just kidding!)
Again many thanks Phil...I enjoy your vids a lot m8!
Regards,
Ernie

Nice one Phil the pickups certainly have the right character and I wondered how you thought they compared to Fenders 57/62's ?

Hi Phil,
Great sound, as usual. What settings do you have on the amp?
I seem to get closer to that lovely biting tone on the JD10 simulator than I do on my AC30.
Kind regards,
Terry

Thanks for the comments guys,
Ernie,
Thanks for the kind words,
I agree that there are many pickups on the market, some good , some not so good, your strat sounds a great guitar, had a couple of 62,s myself over the years, but if we are talking Hanks sound here back then his strat was a new guitar , a strat 40 years plus would not probably be sounding the way it did when it was new, a lot would say they sound better with age which is subjective as a matter of taste i guess and what music you are playing, i especially loved mine for bluesy things ,
Hi Terry, normal channel, a little bass and tonal / vol tweaking on the guitar
Hi Roger, 57 / 62s are ok for a mass produced off the shelf pickup as are all the others and i most certainly would not dismiss them but they dont totally nail it for me as these do , these pickups are better sounding than the pickups on both my original strats, and not much more expensive, depends i guess what your seeking in you tone quest, by the way not on a cut / deal with these pickups , just sharing my thoughts as always being asked what pickups i use / prefer.
Best regards,
Phil.

Phil watching a few clips on Utube using the Slider 59 vintage they seem to produce the SRV tones readily which seems to suggest they are hotter pickups like say Texas Specials and someone mentioned (maybe yourself) that were trying the Texas type ? so are these hotter PU's or are they the 57 variants he does ? I found him on ebay selling them. Cheers Roger

Hi Roger,
The Sliders pickups demos on utube are the 59 SRV set which are overwound and a basic set of 1959 pickups which are not , i have a set of those also ( SRV )and they sound mega, the ones in the Frightened City demo i have for Shads are not hotter , just accurate recreations of a typical 1959 stratocaster set of pickups, made with the same techniques etc, to my build requirements and they sound great,
Regards,
Phil.

Phil - Nailed it. Simple.
The best demo so far, IMO
fantastic sounding pups (not taking anything away from the AC30/4 Meazzi & your fingers of course !) and never heard of them until now !
nice one
Mark.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your comments, Slider has been making pickups for a long time now, just not known about in the Shads fraternity, he really knows his stuff ,is very pleasant to deal with and delivers the goods as far as tone goes, whilst this soundfile was aimed at getting in the ballpark for The Frightened City these pickups are capable of a wide range of tonal colour and the thing to my ears with pickups made with the scatterwound technique is the noticeable dynamics they portray in response to your playing style , full of little tonal nuances , neck has big piano like chime, middle is barky, woody belltone ,bridge is smooth and sweet and full of Hank quack ! check him out Mark ,
Regards,
Phil.

Phil, I couldn't find any reference to price on the website. Are they expensive?
PS 'barky' middle pick-up tone is the perfect description.
