ive become a burns man in a matter of a few weeks! always liked the look and sound of them and i had been bidding on marquees for months on ebay. i had read indifferent reports on them, particularly the trems, so i wanted a bargain and eventually i got a marquee with a hard case for £160!!! ive hardly put it down since i got it. dont get me wrong, im a strat man too but for that kind of money its an amazing guitar with a fantastic, distinct sound. and of course the marquee has the same pups and pots etc as the marvin. there are a few tracks it definately doesnt favour but, in my humble opinion, only a few except under close scrutiny.

A GOOD Burns Marquee is a great guitar for the money and this one sounds a Treat.
Nicely played too. You may be new here but I guess you have been playing a while.

i am on another similar site and i have seen several others here from that same site. ive posted a few tracks on there. for me, the point of using the burns was to try to get a decent sound on a budget. i have jap and mex strats, a samick strat and a few other guitars but i have seen quite a few people asking how to get a decent sound without breaking the bank so i set about finding out for myself. a used burns marquee and used zoom G2.1u is, lets face it, budget and £15 for EFTP for the zoom!! nice one Charlie. hope it inspires someone to get started

I have just played your sound file several times in succession, listening to every note and nuance that you have masterfully played.

I can say without a "Shadow Of A Doubt" (ref. to my dear friend Alan Jones) that yours is one of the best version of this tune I have heard on this website. well done. I particularly like the muted parts, but all of it I like very much indeed.

Can I just say that you have resisted the temptation to be early on the notes which so many player are on this tune. I would just like to see just a bit less attack through your effects box to take the sharpish edge off some notes to achieve perfection ,... you are very close to it Ian.

that was a very humbling response, thank you very much. im intrigued by your comments regarding the attack. this was recorded straight through the effects pedal into the computer. when im playing live i do it this way... guitar - effects unit - second effects unit used as amp sim. as i am a one man set up i dont have room to take a guitar amp so i go straight into my desk, hence the amp sim. any advice regarding this? i know its close to impossible without hearing that set up but from your comments i think you may be able to help me get closer to the sound im looking for.
