VOX AC4-TVHS Demo

Inspired by Dave's demos of the Blackstar 1W amp I've got myself moving and recorded these ....

So what's an AC4-TVHS I hear you cry :? :?

It's a VOX AC-4TV Hambidge Special - a standard AC-4TV which has been Amandered ......

The AC4-TV is an all valve 4W practise / home use amp which is switchable to 1W & 1/4W output. The input is based on the ECC83, however, Amanda has modded mine to have an EF86 front end as well !! including a bright switch as per original AC15 :o The result is a great sounding amp which won't annoy the neighbours but delivers the right sound.

I recorded these in a couple of hours last night - they're not perfect (playing wise or recording) but they give a taste of what the amp sounds like. Setup was Strat - Boss FV500H - EFTP Magic Stomp - AC4-TVHS.

Kon-Tiki, MoM & Peace Pipe were recorded on the EF86 channel with bright switch on, amp driven to point of breakup - backing track UBH
Cavatina was recorded on the ECC83 channel - clean sound - backing track mine.

The bright channel is a little bright (Amanda did worry about scaring the local bat population) and could do with some cut although there's not that facility on the amp - I may re-mix and take some of the treble out on the desk when I get the chance, but I wanted you to hear this as is - so there's no EQ on the guitar. Right click and "save as"

Kon-Tiki
PeacePipe
Man Of Mystery
Theme from Deerhunter

Let me know what you think ....

Hi Mark.
Super sound and playing. Sounds like the ultimate bedroom amp you have there.
Have you tried it with the ESE?
Amanda, Can the EF86 channel, and your other mods, be put into an AC30TBX?
Regards Geoff.

Thanks Geoff

I went for the MagicStomp as I literally had just a couple of hours to knock out a few recordings - the ESE totally distorts the EF86 channel on this amp and I need some time to get it set up right - hopefully its just a level issue and if I can get it balanced I'll try and record a couple of tracks with the ESE

cheers
Mark.

Hi again Mark;
Looking forward to hearing them. As you can see I have asked the question regarding Amanda's mods to the AC30TBX so with a bit of luck I could get a positive answer back and that would be the second lot of icing on the cake for me.
Best regards Geoff.

Hi Mark
that is nothing short of Awesome!!
I'll need to "downsize" soon and that little job is on my Short LIst IF I can persuade Amanda Hankie to mod mine the same way. Plenty of time yet though.
Top Dollar playing Mark!
See you at Hankies one day?
cheers
ian

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the plug! it certainly sounds good! (It's the first time I've heard
any sound files from it!!)

I did fit a bright switch didn't I ?
