Trying to play Atlantis when bitten by a green ant

Summer is here and we're surrounded by thunderstorms and invaded by insects.

Today it was too hot to even get out the American Strat so I had a practice session with the Mexican Strat instead.

While trying to play Atlantis a green ant bit my foot and as it was captured on video I thought I might as well post it as it's not something that probably happens to people while playing Shadows tunes - especially not indoors.

A few minutes later I re-recorded it at

There are lots of things I need to work on with Atlantis and wasn't going to upload it at all until it was better but thought I might as well for novelty value.

Here's a pic of our green ants.

All the best

Hi Rosemary, well done, playing is getting a lot smoother/better, in Atlantis neck pup for the intro then middle for the main theme and bridge pup for the last main melody

Hi Keith and Jimbo
Antlantis indeed! Very good! :)
Thanks Keith for the advice on the pickups. That's something I would never have thought of so I'll add it to my list :)
Best wishes
Rosemary

Nice attempt on Atlantis, I'm sure you will get there in no time. Good luck and Merry Christmas,

Oh Yuk!!! The ant, not the playing!!
And we get upset at our little blighters in our houses - how do you cope with these mothers??
You've got a few notes missing in the intro and brdges etc but hey - its coming on fine.
The intro and first 2 bridges is neck pickup, then you flick to Bridge for the main theme. The LAST muted section and final part STAY on the Bridge.
cheers

Hi Robby, Ecca and Ian
Thanks for having a listen and for the comments. It's funny that I left out the notes on purpose because in my head I thought they were missing the first time at the beginning. I wonder where I got the idea from because it's such a well known track and we often play it. :)

It's great to get all these tips though because I'd never know otherwise and it's good to know as early as possible otherwise I'll play them the wrong way forever. :)

As for green ant bites, they hurt a lot at first but wear off after awhile. I would have kept playing but wanted to to check it was in fact a green ant and not a redback (spider) or something

e.g.

Ian: No anti-dote needed for a green ant bite.

Ecca: The translation from memory was something along the lines of "I was just stung by an ant - a green ant' :)

Robby: Maybe they're more common in Brissie? I'll be down Sydney way soon so will look out for them.

Best wishes
Rosemary
