Hi Friends

Here's one of Gary's with a bit of a difference.
It was played on a Saga Maccaferri style guitar(steel strung) that he uses with Hanks Gypsy Band.

Hi Spike,
This is a really superb version of Maria Elena. I love the Gypsy Jazz style in small doses and particularly the way Hank plays it. Gary has got that touch of making the notes sound sweet by vibrating the string on the fret, something that Hank does with ease on a lot of his acoustic songs. I imagane working so close to Hank, Gary has picked this up.
Please pass on my congratulations to Gary for a smashing soundfile which I have saved.
Have a great Christmas which has started for you already being 8 hours in front of us in frozen UK.

A great sound and an accomplished performance fron Gary, as always.

My memory may be wrong but the arrangement sounds to me very much like the one which was a big hit for Los Indios Tabajaras back in the sixties which I haven't heard for years.

Thanks for your nice comments on Gary's version.

Yes...its along the lines of the famous Los Indios Tabajaras but it was good to hear it with Gary's touch/feel and that interesting sounding Maccaferri that he uses in Hanks band.

Well done GT a tune I struggled with back in 64. Timing is a real challenge but you have nailed it as one would expect from a consumate pro.
