You've Got A Friend

James Taylor's version has always been a favourite and I wondered if this might work as an instrumental.
Started with the excellent backing track from Ameritz and recorded using my US '57RI - Marvin Kinmans - D'Addario 10s.
Neck pickup through a Behringer SE200 Spectrum Enhancer, Patch U39 on the Acoustic Magicstomp provided the Symphonic stereo chorus and I used Garageband both to record with and to simulate a Fender amp. Also employed its virtual Blue Echo pedal for the subtle repeat and its compressor for slightly more attack plus Matrix reverb for a lingering reverb - that completed the setup.
Only lead guitar parts are me - the rest is as purchased.

Hope you like it (sounds best on good headphones for the full stereo effect) but feel free to throw things if you don't - as always all feedback is welcomed whether it be positive or not. That's how we improve and learn.

Hi Martyn
Well I liked it!
Maybe a bit too much Chorus for my taste but I can live with it. I liked the repeat echo that you have chosen - suits the tune and phrasing well.
Smoothly played too - clearly a tune that you are comfortable with.
Thanks for posting it - I enjoyed it.
cheers
ian

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for your kind comments.
Sometimes I think chorus works well and other times I'm not so sure :| but it seemed to add interest to this tune that might otherwise be too repetetive without the vocals to enliven it.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Kind regards,
Martyn
