Hi everyone
Here is a selection of videos from our last Shadows club meeting.

http://www.brisbaneshadowsplayers.com/h ... rd-meeting

We are only a very new 'club' (it was our third meeting) but we had a great time as we were able to do away with backing tracks and play together for the first time as we now have bass and rhythm players and we had keyboard drums and hopefully a drummer soon!

This is only for general interest and is not like my usual videos where I'm always happy to receive tips on how to improve my playing. The sound problems were my fault because I had the camera volume too low and spent a long time trying to boost it a bit afterwards.

Best wishes
Rosemary

Great stuff Rosemary. It would seem that playing with a live band suits you, your playing is much more relaxed I think.
It kinda forces you to concentrate more on what going on around you which backing tracks does'nt do quite the same.
Only thing I'd say, in Apache, a little tweak on the echo unit would help more, I think there was too much repeat on it.
That said, keep em coming 8-)
Hugh.

Hi Hugh
Thanks very much for listening. It was a great afternoon and we're all looking forward to the next one. I still can't play the gallop in Apache properly so maybe that's why it sounded like too many repeats :)

Hi Ernie
Thanks very much for listening. I think the videos captured the afternoon pretty well and we covered a large variety of tunes in about 4 hours. We all had a fantastic time and as a novice player of 2 years I felt it was a real privilege to be able to play along with such excellent musicians and really enjoyed listening to the performances too.
I hope in the future you might link up with some members on the Shadows sites and meet up too.
Best wishes
Rosemary

Streuth, Rosemary! Now you've gone and done it! You'll never be satisfied with just playing at home again and you're well and truly on the slippery path that leads to regular paid gigging! What a great little club and talented bunch you are. I try to get out and visit other clubs and if Brisbane wasn't quite such a stretch from Aberystwyth I'd definitely be paying you a visit. Great stuff!

Cheers

Noel

Hi Noel and Walt
Thanks and sorry for taking so long to reply but I was interstate for a family emergency (everything under control now) and only got back late last week.

Unfortunately I missed our club meeting last weekend but have updated the website with the latest videos from our members and we were very pleased to have a drummer joining us this time too. We're now re-thinking how to arrange the venue and improve our recording techniques for next time. I can't wait for the next meeting. It's so much more fun than playing to backing tracks. I even ended up buying a Squier guitar as a backup when I was away to keep up the practice even though I didn't use an amp. It turned out to be a very nice guitar for the price and I was very tempted to bring it back but will leave it there for next visit. It's a red one too!

Anyway here is a selection of videos from the day.

If anyone is down this part of the world feel free to let me know and you can join us :)
